The Test Results Are In And The Answer Is...

(MRI - Side image of Moki's head.)

(MRI - Front image of Moki's face)

X-ray taken of Moki's Thoracic inlet approximately 4 mths ago

X-ray taken of Moki's thoracic inlet yesterday.

I think the best way to describe our neurologists findings is to quote Moki discharge sheet, so here we go..."We preformed several diagnostic tests while Moki was here. His bloodwork was unremarkable. His chest x-rays showed a narrowing of his thoracic inlet (the space his trachea and esophagus travel through.) This may be the cause of his intermittent cough. The MRI showed a slightly decreased cerebellar size, which may indicate evidence of degenerative or developmental disease. There is also some slight decrease in some of the cortex, and dilation of the fluid filled spaces surrounding Moki's brain. The CSF Tap was unremarkable. These finding indicate that Moki does not have a structural disease that we could address with surgery. It is most likely that Moki's problem is developmental or degenerative. However, since he has remained relatively static it is unlikely to be progressive/degenerative. His major concern at this time are his orthopedic issues."By now you may be wondering what we plan to do about the orthopedic problem, well we are working on that. Here's what Moki's neurologist had to say..."We have contacted our orthopedic surgeons and are currently collecting opinions and ideas for ways to treat Moki's limb abnormalities and hopefully improve his ability to get around. We will contact you next week with the input from these veterinary specialists." So there you have it. Feel free to leave/ask us any questions, and we will let you know what the orthopedic surgeons have to say about Moki's case next week.

We are glad that Moki's problems will probably not get worse. We think his X-rays were very interesting. Is there anything they can do about the narrowing of his thoracic inlet?

We are glad he is back home with you now where he belongs.

Moki,
My mum works in a hospital and she says that those results are good, and they are doing an awesome job of looking at you.

You must enjoy being back home, and I hope you get lots of smooches.

Thanks Poppy and Mum Q,
I thought some of it sounded good, but wasn't sure about the unremarkable parts.
The Sherwood Bunch is sending Moki lots and lots of smoochies and more purrs.

ML- Unremarkable is usually doctor-speak for normal, or at least nothing worth mentioning.

Best wishes for Moki!

I think the very best news from all of that is that his condition is unlikely to be progressive or degenerative! So if they can help his mobility, that will be very wonderful.

Moki, you look cute in your x-rays and your MRI.

That is some good to neutral news. I'm glad to hear that it is not degenerative and now they can focus on his mobility.

Hang in there Moki!
