Moki Update - Ways to help

Last night Orange Boy, over heard me talking on the phone to Beau's mom Cathy. He must have heard our conversation about needing to keep Moki warm, because as soon as I got off the phone, I found Orange Boy had joined the cat warming pile.
:)
As for Moki, he is getting a little restless. He really wants to be able to get up and walk around, and has developed a slight attitude from having to spend his days wrapped in a blanket in order to maintain his body temperature. Last night however, while talking to Cathy, the two of us had a break through. Why not get Moki a sweater to help keep him warm? This would solve part of the problem we are having, since his body temp drops every time we unwrap Moki to eat, it would also allow him to walk around for very brief periods of time. Afte I got off the phone with Cathy, I decided to look into the matter, and discovered, what I think would be the perfect solution to our problem and here it is. Four legged pet pajamas! Ok, so these ones have a doggie print on them, but who cares if they will keep Moki warm? I found a couple of other pairs at Petco and Petsmart, without doggies on them, but they where almost twice the price, so Moki decided he could live with the dog pajamas, if they would allow him to walk around. My boyfriend is at Target right now checking to see if they have a pair. If so, he is going to pick up a pair, and a sweater with a hood to go over the top of them. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Target has them in stock!

As soon as we can find a pair for Moki, we will allow Moki to select the winner of the Fleece Blanket raffle, hopefully it will be sometime tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Thank you so much to everyone who donated an item, or purchased a ticket.

In other news, we wanted to announce some of the current raffles/auctions being held around the Cat Blogosphere to help raise money for Moki's medical bills. We would like to personally thank everyone who has donated items, is hosting a raffle, auction, has purchased a ticket or bidded on an item, made a donation and to all those who have been sending us your purrs, prayers and support! Now on to the raffles...

Artsy Catsy is raffling their very first original artist-designed Crazy Cat Lady necklace and earring set, retail value $79. Tickets are only $2 each, and you can buy them through November 26, so be sure to mark the date on your calenders and get your tickets before then. 100% of the proceeds will go to Moki and Artsy Catsy will pay shipping. (Isn't this an amazing set? We think Artsy Catsy is so talented!!! Thanks Artsy Catsy!)

Forty Paws, who makes the awesome, cat hammocks, featured on the Cat Blogosphere, will be raffling off one of their lovely hammocks in a nice Christmas print. The raffle tickets are $2 a ticket and can be purchased directly by visiting their blog (click either their name or one of the two pictures below to be taken to their blog address.) Forty Paws, will pay for Priority Shipping in the U.S. and regular shipping to overseas locations. The raffle ends November 30 at midnight so be sure to purchase your ticket before then.

(Thank you so much Forty Paws! Some kitty is going to be really lucky to win this!)

As for us, momma bean is creating the cute Christmas kitty ornaments shown above. She will be creating each ornament by hand now through December. To learn more about the ornament(s), which are selling for $10.00 each or 2 for $15.00 + a $6.00 shipping fee, click here.

More raffles/auctions are in the works to help benefit Moki. Just as soon as they are up and running we will let you know. We can't express enough our thanks to everyone for everything, during this very difficult time.

Your post reminded me of the thing people use at cold football games. Some kind of thing they shake or something to keep their hands warm. Not being a yankee, I don't know much about them. Maybe something you check out? Sew it into the pajamas or something? Just a thought.

What a great idea! PJs and sweaters will give Moki a little time to roam around and still be warm. Those warming things Peggy is talking about are available in sporting goods stores and I think Walmart's sports department.

Keep fighting Moki!!

Nice work by Orange Boy, snuggling with his brofur. That's a great idea about the PJ's. The kitty decorations look nice, and we're gonna talk to Mum about them when she next gets paid. We're still purring and purraying for Moki, first of all to stay warm, and then to beat this UTI.

Hi crystal, I love that picture of Orange Boy warming up his buddy. I know Orange boy is quite a small fellow, what about some really stretchy socks? You could cut holes in them at the top for his head and holes for his feet. I am not sure if it would work, but it might be a way to get something stretchy and warm onto him.

Sending you a thousand warming purrs.

I have found things with legs are a little bit hard to wear. Do you think Moki would wear one of my sweaters? I weigh about 6 3/4 pounds. If so, just send me your address! (Use the e-mail link on my site).

We all here are hoping that Moki gets well soon. I wonder if you could use those instant heat packs for hands and the sort too?

Just incase you need something at Target again, if you go in and can't find them, a employee is able to look up the stuff and if they don't have it, can give you a DPI to bring to guest service to see what stores near you have that item. ;) - I love that about that store!

Good thoughts comin Moki's way,

Hi Moki! We're still here to send you tons of warmth. With 10 of us, that should help. When Dorfie had his horrible dental surgery and the eruption came out on his stomach, Maw purchased baby onesies for him to stop him from chewing on his medicine. Maybe a baby onesie with legs might help? Because of Dorf's weight, he was wearing the 12 month size, but you could probably wear something smaller. It's an idea.

Oh Moki, I don't blame you for wanting to move around, but staying warm will help you, and Orange Boy is such a sweetheart for snuggling with you.

I'm only on my computer for a few minutes today, but if you like, I'd be happy to send long distance Reiki for you, your people and all the medical professionals who are working very hard to help you.

Just let me know on my blog.

We posted yesterday about possibly looking into newborn bean jammies. For some reason the comment isn't showing up today. they are pretty stretchy and could maybe fit Moki's frame. A nice fleece one would be very toasty.
