Still Ticking

Well it's looking as though we are long past due for an update, so here it is...

Moki - Moki is recovering nicely from his latest round of illness. He's eating and drinking on his own again, and is as alert and playful as ever. Unfortunately, his orthopedic problems are getting worse, and it appears as though were going to have to start saving up to take him back to the orthopedic surgeon at UC Davis. I fear that without further physical therapy for his back legs, and possibly some leg braces or a wheelchair, he may eventually lose the ability to use them altogether. Of course I will need to discuss this matter further with Moki's orthopedic surgeon to see what we can do to stop the progression and possibly fix the situation...

Orange Boy - Orange Boy is still living with his Dad at the moment. He seems to be happiest there, although we are both still open and talking about his coming to live here as well. Of course, Orange Boy still comes to visit and maintains a relationship with Moki as much as possible...

(Below are some pictures taken during Orange Boy's last visit. He came to visit momma bean back in early March for her birthday, and she couldn't have been happier to see him!)

Mini Munch - Mini Munch is not so mini any more...lol! Life as an indoor cat has really put some much needed weight on her. She is still some what shy, but seems to be doing pretty well when it comes to warming up to new people. It takes her a few moments but she usually lets company approach and pet her when they are here!

Little Kitty - Little Kitty has been renewing her life long friendship with my cousin. He was there when I first brought Little Kitty home, and has watched her grow over the years. She has become a little bit of an attention hog, but she seems to get more than enough attention from her reacquainted friend! Speaking of friends, both Mini Munch and Little Kitty have developed quite the friendship. The two of them can often be found chasing each other around the house and playing together on almost any given day!

To come around full circle, I'll close with one more note on Moki. One which I personally find very fulfilling...and that is Moki has officially made it into his third year!!! When this all began the doctors where hard pressed to give Moki even a day to live, and three years later he's still hear...God bless his little heart!!

so glad to hear that everyone is doing well. Never got a response from you on my last comment about the panleukopenia?

"the feline distemper has a whole bunch of things in it though- and it does include the panleukopenia IN it is all i meant. and the FVRCP vaccine is a distemper vaccine- and that has panleukemia in it- they just call it the feline distemper vaccine. I'm not saying the distemper did it- but it has like 4 parts in it. 4 different things are inside the actual vaccine. I was responding to your FVRCP vaccine."

i just want to make sure that you know that the feline distemper has panleuk in it. that's what the FVRCP is.

FVR stands for Rhinotracheitis, C stands for Calicivirus, and P stands for the panleuk. So the information you gave on the panleuk is correct, however, the term 'feline distemper' is just what they call it. So, actually, some of your info on your last post needs to be corrected. I don't want people thinking the wrong things about the feline distemper vaccine. Thanks.

Y'know, ticking along is ok. It's good that Orange Boy gets to visit Moki and we're all pleased that everyone is doing ok. It's wonderful that Moki has got to his 3rd year, may he have many, many more. I hope that UCD can help him. Now, our Dad (serologist) just read your post above about da virii and he said

"now that's a lady who seriously knows her stuff"

Keep up the good work Crystal, give Moki some scritches from us all please :)
