Third Physical Therapy/ Hydro Therapy Appointment

As some of you may be aware, today marked Moki's third physical therapy/hydro therapy session. Going into the session I pre-warned everyone who may be working with Moki today, that there was a chance he might bite. He has been a little on the grumpy side since returning from UC Davis, so I felt it best to warn everyone in advance just in case...

As you can see from the pictures, (Moki's grumpy face pictured above) he wasn't to thrilled with his time spent in the whirlpool today...It was only after he got his aggression out, by giving one of the people working with him a nice bitey, (you can see the bite mark in the photograph below, I circled it in green, it's not bad looking I promise...) that he decided he would at least try to make the best out of the situation. To keep anyone else from getting bitten, I worked with Moki in the whirlpool by myself, while the R.V.T. who had got bitten cleaned out her wound. After her bite wound was all cleaned up, she returned. She wanted to continue working with Moki but was a little hesitant. (Can you blame her...lol) So what we did is have her work with Moki's back legs, while I worked with his front. This way there was very little risk that she would get bit again. In the beginning of his session Moki refused to move, but by the end of it, he had become quite the little swimmer. He was paddling all four legs so well, that he barely needed my hands to hold his head above water! We where both quite proud!

Our biggest breakthrough however occurred after we returned home.
As some of you may recall, way back in March, we did an entry called "Special Needs Part 1- Grooming," in it we discussed how ever since Moki got sick, he has been unable to groom himself. Well this afternoon after we returned home from Physical Therapy, Moki had a little surprise lined up for us...
We would like to dedicate the surprise taking place in the video below to both Deb and ML, who despite having so much going on in their own lives, have worked so very hard to raise money for Moki and others, through the wonderful raffles and auctions which they held on their auction blog...
Deb and ML this video is for you!

(Miracles can happen as long as you are willing to work hard enough to achieve them!)

And to everyone else, we just wanted to say, thank you for all your continued support and for making all the raffles and auctions held for Moki a huge success!

Grooming and being "quite the little swimmer" have to be the best signs of improvement yet. I'm so pleased. Well doen to Moki, his beans and his physiotherapist!

That is wonderful, Moki. You are a very lucky kitty to have so many humans who love you and are working so hard to help you. And you are a fighter, even though you were grumpy and bit your therapist. We look forward to seeing you do even more.

you keep working hard in therapy and you'll get better and better.

it is OK to put the bitey on a bean when you've been thru all you've been thru.
